Splitfire Furioso — compact live sampler for Reason
Splitfire Furioso is a 2 RU, tape-only live sampler Rack Extension built for immediate recording and CV-heavy performance, with a 3-voice, up to 16-slice engine and ~4 seconds of samptamponul.

Quick setup and use
- Feed audio into ÎN L / ÎN R and set input level using the IN meter (red LED indicates > 0 dBFS; trim VOL on the back panel if needed).
- Select the recording mode using HOLD / FIXED / Q.
- Presa REC to capture audio (HOLD captures while pressed; FIXED captures a fixed-length capture; Q snaps record start/end to bar boundaries).
- Utilizați Sample zone to choose fade/slice behavior: set MOD FADE (Manual/Auto) and slicing via FELII (Auto/Manual) with FELII şi TRANS controls (panel slicing is bypassed when cv_slices is patched in v3.2).
- Set Redare controls: choose MOD (Slice/Pitch Forward/Reverse), adjust VITEZĂ, și setați BUCLĂ (Off/On variants) and LEN.
- Utilizați Voice parameter cluster pentru RĂDĂCINĂ, ATK, REL, Aduce, PAN, DEGR, și VOL.
- Utilizare STUT to engage/disengage stutter (or use cv_gate_stutter), and use the MUTE button for global audio mute.
Depanare
- Fără ieșire audio: Verificați VOL knob, front-panel MUTE state, and voice allocation (if all voices are in a release tail, new notes may appear silent).
- Input meter not lighting: Check cabling to ÎN L / ÎN R and confirm VOL trim on the back panel.
- Audible clicks at slice edges: In Manual fade mode increase XFADE, sau în Auto slice mode increase TRANS to detect cleaner slice boundaries.
- Loud crack on REC over playing (firmware guidance): For v3.2 or later, the swap-fade should handle buffer swaps. For earlier firmware, brief MUTE before/after REC, or use Q mode aligned to transport beats.
- CV input has no effect: Verify patching, knob position, and that the relevant mode/behavior applies (e.g., cv_slices overrides panel slicing only when patched; cv_slice_select overrides slice selection only in Mono/Legato).
- Stutter window doesn’t change: The window is frozen at engage time. To recapture at a new DIMENSIUNE, disengage and re-engage stutter (button or gate).
- UNDO doesn’t restore: UNDO restores only one level. After UNDO, the undo slot is empty; UNDO cannot be applied twice in a row without another sample-modifying operation.
FAQ
- How does MUTE behave?
- The front-panel MUTE button toggles mute. When muted, all voices continue running internally (phase/envelopes) but produce zero output; the display dims. It can also respond to cv_mute (edge toggle or level threshold > 0.5).
- What happens when cv_slices is patched (v3.2)?
- When cv_slices is patched, slicing enters override mode with equal divisions where N = round(cv_slices_value * 16), clamped to 1..16. This overrides both Auto/Manual panel slicing; the panel SLICES toggle and SLICES knob become inactive. Quiet-point snapping is intentionally not applied for CV-driven slicing.
- Why don’t stutter window changes affect the active stutter?
- Stutter freezes the window (position and length) at engage time. Adjusting SIZE or cv_mod_stutter_win while stuttering does not change the active window; you must disengage and re-engage stutter to recapture.
- What does UNDO do?
- UNDO restores the previous active sample (one level). There is no redo. After UNDO, the undo slot becomes empty until another sample-modifying operation occurs.
