3. Instalare

Follow these steps for a successful installation. A screwdriver is typically sufficient, but a drill may be needed if your door lacks a bottom handleset support hole.

1. Îndepărtați hardware-ul existent: Begin by removing the old handleset and deadbolt from your door. Start with the interior components, then proceed to the exterior.
2. Instalați zăvorul cu șurub: Insert the new deadbolt latch into the top bore hole on the edge of the door. Secure it with the provided small screws.
3. Install Handle Latch: Insert the handle latch into the lower bore hole on the edge of the door. Secure it with the provided small screws.
4. Install Exterior Deadbolt: Position the exterior deadbolt component into the top hole on the outside of the door, ensuring the spindle aligns correctly with the deadbolt latch.
5. Install Interior Deadbolt: Attach the interior deadbolt turn piece to the inside of the door, aligning it with the exterior deadbolt and securing it with screws.
6. Instalați setul de mânere exterioare: Insert the exterior handleset into the lower hole on the outside of the door. Ensure the spindle engages with the handle latch.
7. Instalați mânerul ușii interioare: Attach the interior door knob to the inside of the door, aligning it with the exterior handleset and securing it with screws.
8. Secure Bottom Handleset: If your door does not have a pre-drilled hole for the bottom of the handleset, use the provided template to mark and drill a new hole. Secure the bottom of the handleset with the long screw and cover cap.

4. SmartKey Security and Re-keying

Kwikset's SmartKey Security offers advanced protection against common break-in methods like lock bumping and picking. It also provides the convenience of re-keying your lock yourself in seconds, allowing you to match your new lock to an existing key or change keys as needed.

Re-keying Process:

1. Insert Functioning Key: Insert your currently functioning key fully into the cylinder and turn it 90 degrees clockwise.
2. Insert SmartKey Learn Tool: While the functioning key is still turned, insert the SmartKey Learn Tool fully into the SmartKey hole. Remove the SmartKey Learn Tool.
3. Remove Functioning Key: Scoateți cheia funcțională.

• Exterior Operation: The exterior deadbolt is operated by a key. The handleset features a thumb-press mechanism to retract the latch bolt.
• Interior Operation: The interior deadbolt is operated by a turn button. The interior door knob operates by turning the knob to retract the latch bolt.
• Securitate: The handleset provides two points of locking for enhanced security.

To ensure the longevity and smooth operation of your Kwikset Montara Handleset, follow these maintenance guidelines:
