2. Configurare și instalare
The First Alert SCO5CN detector is designed for easy, battery-powered installation, requiring no electrical wiring. It comes with a mounting bracket and hardware for secure placement on a wall or ceiling.
2.1 Despachetarea și instalarea bateriei
- Carefully remove the detector and all components from the packaging.
- Locate the battery compartment on the side of the unit. Slide open the battery door.
- Insert the two AA batteries provided, ensuring correct polarity (+ and -). The unit will chirp once to indicate it has powered on.

3. Instrucțiuni de utilizare
3.1 Butonul Test/Tăcere
The large 'Test/Silence' button on the front of the detector serves two primary functions:
- Testare: Press and hold the button to test the unit's electronic circuitry, horn, and battery. The alarm will sound, and the indicator lights will flash.
- Tăcere: Press the button to temporarily silence nuisance alarms (e.g., from cooking smoke) or the low battery chirp. The alarm will reset after a few minutes if the condition that caused the alarm has cleared.

3.2 Alarm Signals and Indicator Lights
The detector uses distinct audible and visual signals to communicate different conditions:
- Alarma de fum: A series of three loud beeps, followed by a pause, repeating. The 'Smoke' indicator light will flash.
- Alarma de monoxid de carbon: A series of four loud beeps, followed by a pause, repeating. The 'CO' indicator light will flash.

4. Întreținere

4.1 Weekly Testing
Test your detector weekly by pressing and holding the 'Test/Silence' button until the alarm sounds. This confirms the unit is functioning correctly.
